Doug Olson, ’82, Enters Chapter Eternal

Brother Doug Olson, a commercial real estate agent and entrepreneur died Nov. 12 at the age of 58.

Brother Douglas Bailey Olson graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in business in 1982. After six years in commercial real estate, he joined his wife, Jill in residential appraising in 1998 and founded Sonoma Coast Spirits in 2011.

Brother Olson was born on May 13, 1960, in Santa Monica, California, and raised in Denver, Colorado. He graduated high school from Kent Denver in 1978.

Brother Olson enjoyed, and was passionate about, skiing the mountain of Vail, Colorado; being part of the down-hill racing team at Vail; teaching his three sons how to ski; fly-fishing Wigwam in Colorado and the Big Horn River in Montana.. He also enjoyed hunting; playing lacrosse from fourth grade through college at the University of Arizona; and spending summers at the Olson Family Cottage on Basswood Lake in Ontario, Canada.  He was a co-founder of Petaluma Youth Lacrosse in 2004 in Petaluma, California.

He leaves his wife of 29 years, Jill; children, Carter, Blake, Grant, and Caroline; mother, Virginia Cox Olson; and brother Steven Olson, and sister Jill Glaser. His father, Richard, died just nine months before Brother Olson.
