William Earl Powles Jr. Enters Chapter Eternal

Brother William Earl Powles Jr., ’51, entered Chapter Eternal on Nov. 18, 2017. He was 91.

He was on Oct. 1, 1926 in Douglas, Arizona and graduated from Douglas High School as salutatorian in 1944. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served as an electronic technician's mate third class. He was honorably discharged in 1946. 

Brother Powles then attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1951. Earl was a lifelong member of the Sigma Chi International Fraternity. He married Patricia Downey on Aug. 23, 1950. They were married for 65 years.

He worked at Mountain Bell later known as U.S. West Communications from 1951-1986. He was a Freemason.

Brother is preceded in death by his wife "Pat" and is survived by his children Steve Powles , Diana Powles Lett ; and his grandchildren Andrew Powles, and Sam and Sarah Lett, all of Phoenix.
