Steve Minarik Enters Chapter Eternal

Brother Steve Minarik, ’89, a high school coach and teacher, entered Chapter Eternal on July 27, 2015, after dying from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He was 48.

Brother Minarik was born and raised in Tucson and graduated from Santa Rita High School in 1984 where he played varsity baseball and trumpet in the marching band. He pledged Sigma Chi 1983. He earned his bachelor’s degree in education at the UA in 1989 and his master’s degree in education from NAU in 1997.

He taught and coached baseball in the Flowing Wells District, in South Korea at Taejon Christian International School and finished his career in Prescott Valley.

Brother Minarik’s greatest joys were his family, golf and baseball. His family noted that he had an  adventurous spirit, infectious sense of humor and positive outlook on life.

He is survived by his wife, Sheryl; sons, Carson and Garrett; and his mother, Mary Kay Bush.  A celebration of his life was Aug. 15,, 2015 in Tucson.
