The Objectives of Sigma Chi

Taking inspiration from the White Cross and following the principles of its Founders, the Sigma Chi Fraternity and the Beta Phi Chapter shall:

  • Cultivate and maintain the high ideals on which Sigma Chi was founded: “Friendship, Justice and Learning”;

  • Foster and preserve high academic standards;
Train the undergraduate in leadership responsibility and instill the idea of good citizenship;

  • Stimulate participation in college programs and develop close co-operation between Sigma Chi membership and college officials, faculty, and other student organizations; and,

  • Provide a helping hand of brotherhood for the achievement of purposeful living, both in the college community and in the years to follow.

We feel that these objectives can be attained by following the three main documents that our Seven Founding Fathers gave us. These documents are show below and will hopefully give you a better understanding the goals of our fraternal commitment. The “Jordan Standard” was written by Issac M. Jordan and outlines our standards for pledging. The “Spirit of Sigma Chi” shows our desire to maintain individuality even though we strive for a common goal.

The “Sigma Chi Creed” speaks of the things that we stand for and our aims as Sigs. “My Badge” speaks to the symbol of our Fraternity that we wear as members.
