Brother John S. Henkel '84 Enters Chapter Eternal

Brother John Henkel, ’84, an entrepreneur, died Oct. 24, 2020 in Aurora, Colorado. He was 58.

He was born in Tucson, on March 10, 1962. He attended Sabino High School and received a Baird Scholarship to the University of Arizona, where he joined the Beta Phi Chapter of Sigma Chi. He graduated in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. 

Brother Henkel launched his career by establishing a property management company with friends in Tucson. After several years he sold the company and moved to Chicago where he began trading on the Chicago Board of Options exchange. In 2012 he purchased a franchise, Online Trading Academy, and moved the family to Colorado 

Family members remember him for his positive attitude and ability to make sense of any situation, no matter how dire. They said he always gave the best advice and was never afraid to share how he felt. 

He is survived by wife, Stephanie and children, Hannah, John and Holly.

A funeral mass was held Nov. 2.
