Thomas Scott '78 has been selected for the Order of Constantine

Thomas Scott, Beta Phi 1978, has been inducted into the Order of Constantine for his contributions in the Beta Phi Chapter and to the Alumni Chapter for more than 40 years.

He has used his financial expertise as a certified public accountant to train and mentor more than three dozen Quaestors and has served as treasurer for the Alumni Chapter, house corporation and Beta Phi Education Foundation.

Thanks to his leadership, the chapter house was debt-free in five years and now has an annual $75,000 cash flow. Scott also participates in the chapter’s mentoring program and assists with initiations. He was inducted into the Beta Phi Hall of Honor in 2011. 

He is the 10th Beta Phi member of the Order of Constantine, the highest order of Sigma Chi's Fraternity.

 

James Johnson ’61 Inducted Into UA School of Journalism Hall of Fame

Brother James W. “Jim” Johnson, ‘61, was inducted into the UA School of Journalism Hall of Fame on April 9 for his 24-years service.  In 2003 he joined the Daily Wildcat Hall of Fame.  

BrotherJohnson was sports editor of the school paper, The Wildcat and editor of the Saguaro Sig in the 1960-61 school year. Upon graduation he spent the 18 years as an editor and reporter at the Oakland Tribune.

After that stint, “ I wanted a career in teaching journalism, and I knew the school I wanted to teach at was my alma mater.”   

Brother Johnson wrote eight books, including a biography of Brother Mo Udall, a Congressman and presidential candidate.  

He received a national teaching award in 1983.  

He is retired and lives in Aguanga, California, near Temecula.
